My Gaze Inverted – I Am Seen.

I love a certain kind of philosophy,

a unique perspective on the nature of reality.

Occasionally, what I behold comes alive, looks back at me,

and breaks through my point of view.

.

I love those waking moments

when the slumber of ordinary life

and the hypnotic pattern of personality

are disrupted by raw reality.

.

I’m defenseless against its gentle insistence

even though I feel myself torn,

by what’s larger than its capacity to receive.

Structures of understanding crumble

and every pretentious boundary transgressed.

.

Philosophers call it by different names:

The Whole, the underlying Unity, the Multiplicity.

But in these waking moments,

this mystery finds a face.

My gaze inverted – I am seen.

We’re not alone in a mindless universe –

we’re born from this inexhaustible depth,

seeking its own reflection.

My gaze inverted – I am seen.

.

And even as my distinctness is affirmed,

I feel myself dissolve into this whole,

to once again be gathered into

this distinct form.

.

An incarnational rhythm

of the infinite finding finite form.

Playful possibilities

transformed into this actual person,

as the mystery unveils its face anew.
