Many people have come to a pivotal point in their lives where the God they believed in and the faith tradition they were brought up in, have become too small, too tribal, and too self-contradictory to continue in it. Such an experience is common, if not essential, to a deeper experience of God.
Our experiences and our beliefs have a mutual influence. Our beliefs can limit or liberate our experience of God … and our experiences can transform our beliefs. I want to share how my beliefs and my experiences of God have changed, how they have surprised me. And in this process I’ve had to reinterpret everything, even basic ideas such as creation, incarnation, salvation etc. But this reinterpretation led to a more meaningful life.
